If you are a fan of dressing up then the Easter Bonnet Parade in New York is where you wanted to be this 2012 Easter Sunday! WHAT A FUN DAY!
Over the years New York Easter Parade has become more fashion spectacle than parade. Most outlandish and whimsical bonnets adorned with flowers, butterflies, fruits and more – and last but certainly not least even live animals on the head.
It started at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Lo and behold and most surprisingly it is a Free event – a rarity in New York City – and it takes place on Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets.
The Easter Bonnet Parade has no official ceremony; instead, it encourages people to dress up, walk around and admire other’s costumes. St. Patrick’s Cathedral seems to be the center point to view the creativity.
Many people took the opportunity to dress their pets for the occasion – not so sure the animals were as happy as much as their owners seem to be.
Outfits and hats ranged from elegant to the bizarre, the latest egg fashion, and wonderful “PEEPS” inspired haute couture.
Hi Tanya, I must say the Amercans have a lot of ‘spirit’. I liked the variety of hats. The upside down carrot one haha and the dogs and cat. Really enjoyed these pics.
